WHAT IS X10?
You will notice X10 POWERHOUSE being mentioned a lot here. Why is this?
Simply because the X10 POWERHOUSE brand of home control devices is the
industry standard. They have been produced since the late 1970s and are very
affordable and powerful. This is why most home automation devices are the
X10 POWERHOUSE brand or are based on their technology.
HOW DOES X10 WORK?
There are 2 parts to any X10 home control system - a controller and a
receiver. A controller
sends a signal over your existing house wiring. The receiver (called a
"module") listens for these signals. Each module has a unique address so it
will respond to signals meant only for it. The device you want to control
(lights, radios, etc) plug into the module, and the module plugs into the
wall. You do not have to run any special wires because your existing house
wiring is used! If you have electricity in your home, you are already wired
up to use these devices.
